Shortlist

Windermere family holiday park picked for award finalsĀ

Fingers are being crossed by the owners and staff at a Windermere family holiday park after they learned that the business has reached the finals of a major enterprise award.

Park Cliffe has beaten hundreds of other eligible firms to reach the last stages of the North West Family Business Awards 2023.

Now they must wait until 19th May to discover if they have taken a top spot in the annual competition to celebrate the region’s most dynamic and entrepreneurial families.

Contenders for Family Business Award

The holiday park is competing in the leisure and tourism small business category of the contest.

Susan Dickson, who owns Park Cliffe with her husband Derek, say they feel both proud and humbled to be included among the short-list of contenders for the award.

But their Windermere holiday park must now undergo a rigorous inspection by competition judges over the coming weeks before their verdict is announced.

Susan and Derek took over Park Cliffe 15 years ago, and have since invested much time and energy into ensuring that it provides top quality facilities and service.

Their reward has been to see an annual growth in visitor numbers from the UK and overseas, and a top five-star excellence rating from Visit England.

It has also achieved a number of environmental awards for its many initiatives to protect wildlife and care for the natural world, and for its sustainability policies.

The North West Family Business Awards are organised by The Family Business Community which brings family firms together to share experiences and help them continue to grow.

May’s glittering awards ceremony will be held at the Concorde Conference Centre near Manchester Airport, and co-hosted by renowned food and drink broadcaster and writer Nigel Barden.

Family holiday park team share credit

“It’s a great honour to be included among the finalists in these awards, and I know we were up against a lot of stiff competition to make the short list,” said Susan.

“The awards are especially important to us as they focus not just on what the business does, but also the quality of the service it provides to customers,

“Delivering this is very much in the hands of our park team, so they must also share in the credit of getting Park Cliffe where it is today,” she added,

Park Cliffe provides luxury holiday homes to rent and own, glamping facilities, and pitches for tents, touring caravans and motorhomes.
