At West Dorset Leisure Holidays, supporting the local community means celebrating its creativity. Each November, the park proudly hosts the Winter Makers Market, bringing together around 40 local artisans and small businesses. The event not only shines a light on Dorset’s thriving maker community but also raises funds for Julia’s House Children’s Hospices, helping families across the region.
When the original organising group could no longer continue, the park stepped in to keep this much-loved community tradition alive. Thanks to their support, the market raised over £3,000 last year alone, ensuring local craftspeople have a platform and a valuable cause continues to benefit.
It’s a wonderful example of how holiday parks can nurture local enterprise, sustain community traditions, and make a positive difference all year round.
This is part of the #ParksMakePlaces campaign, celebrating how holiday parks support people, places and the planet.
