At The Quiet Site in Ullswater, holidays aren’t just about escaping – it is about travelling better too.
As part of the Sustainable Integrated Transport for Ullswater (SITU) initiative, the park is helping create greener, community-focused ways to get around.
Together, they’ve opened a new footpath linking the train station to the valley, launched a hopper bus that carried 9,000 passengers last year, and begun work on a new cycleway to connect the station with local attractions. With £60,000 raised and more than 1,200 volunteer hours given, this partnership is proof that when communities pull together, sustainable travel really takes off.
