Family gives a warm welcome to Kelso Retirement Park
The family behind Red Deer Village residential park in the village of Stepps near Glasgow has announced its acquisition of a Kelso retirement park.
The Hendry family are now the new owners of Springwood Retirement Village near the historic market town of Kelso in the Scottish Borders.
And in charge of taking the business forward are John, James and Liam Hendry, the sons of Ivan Hendry who co-founded Red Deer Village with his brother John.
Set in tranquil Borders countryside and surrounded by the picturesque River Tweed, Springwood Retirement Village comprises around 80 residential park homes.
With many historic landmarks nearby including Kelso Abbey, it provides all the ingredients for a fulfilling and active retirement amid picture-postcard scenery.
The family says it is eager to foster a warm, welcoming community while preserving the park’s unique and very special character.
“We’re truly honoured to take on Springwood Village,” said Ivan. “Together, we hope to create a place where residents feel at home, building on our experience at Red Deer Village.”
The acquisition, he added, reflects the family’s shared commitment to enhancing community-focused living spaces in beautiful locations, with a focus on quality and sustainability.
Ivan says the family plans to thoughtfully improve Springwood Village, ensuring it remains a cherished home for residents in a caring and mutually supportive environment.
The park was purchased from its previous owners Douglas Elliott, Richard Powel and Graeme Baxter who had built the park from scratch.
