Three top Dorset holiday parks are now offering their glamping guests a spectacular window on the universe when they settle down in their beds each night.

The parks, each a member of the West Dorset Leisure Holidays group, have commissioned the production of a unique “stargazer” tent which features a crystal clear roof.

It means that holidaymakers can enjoy a canopy of stars above their heads inside the tent, making the most of Dorset’s celebrated clear night skies.

The four-person tents were made especially for family-owned West Dorset Leisure by Lotus Belle, the award-winning Bristol glamping manufacturer.

They are featured at Golden Cap Holiday Park on Seatown Beach, and at Graston Copse Holiday Park and Sandyholme Holiday Park deep in the Dorsetshire countryside.

The stylish and eye-catching tents provide a generously sized living area, heating, lighting, and full-size beds with duvets and pillows provided.

Measuring five metres in diameter, they also include plug sockets for phone charging, furnishings, and an outdoor picnic bench for alfresco dining.

West Dorset Leisure’s James Cox said that glamping has proved exceptionally popular since being introduced a few years ago at four of the group’s five parks:

“Everyone loves the idea of camping, but not all holidaymakers want the flap of putting up a tent when they arrive, and taking it down afterwards,” said James.

“Glamping is a great alternative because everything is there on the park waiting for you, and guests still get that wonderful sense of coming closer to nature and the countryside.

“Now we’ve taken this notion one step further by bringing the twinkling universe inside the tent, and making it the star attraction after the sun goes down.

“This is certain to appeal to all ages – and many guests might be given their first ever glimpse of the Milky Way, thanks to the very low levels of light pollution here,” added James.

West Dorset Leisure Holidays was established 45 years ago, and its five parks have won a raft of regional and national awards for their quality standards and environmental care.

They variously provide luxury holiday caravans, lodges, apartments and bungalows for rent and to buy, as well as glamping and pitches for touring caravans, motorhomes and tents.

In addition to the specially created Lotus Belle tents, there are also other models featuring clear sky roofs. More information is available on the company’s website at www.wdlh.co.uk
