Canterbury couple’s joy at news of holiday home win

There were celebrations this month for a Canterbury couple and their three children after they were named as the winners of a brand new luxury holiday caravan.

Sam and Olly Bottomley beat hundreds of other entries in a national draw to win the keys to a fully equipped leisure home at Winchelsea Sands Holiday Park in East Sussex.

The draw was organised by park owners Park Holidays UK, and the family was able to choose from three of the group’s 30 top-rated parks as the location for their prize.

They opted for Winchelsea Sands, partly because of the happy memories Sam treasured of carefree times spent on the park when she was a little girl.

Now the family can look forward to taking breaks throughout the 10.5 months of the year when the park is open, and to enjoy its raft of attractions and entertainment.

The park’s outdoor pool and sun terrace is a favourite with families

Sam, who cares full-time for the couple’s three children, also intends to spend extended time at Winchelsea Sands during the summer months when the schools have broken up.

It’s just a short drive from the car dealership where Olly manages a motor workshop, meaning he’ll also be able to be part of the family’s holidays whilst working.

Their prize is a high-specification Delta Radiant holiday caravan which is made exclusively for Park Holidays UK, and featuring all mod-cons including a family bathroom and fitted kitchen.

Similar models on the group’s seaside holiday parks, all of which are based in southern England, sell for around £34,995.

Sam says all she has ever won before in a competition was a DVD of comedian Micky Flanagan  – so the news of the family’s success came as a wonderful surprise:

“When the email arrived from Park Holidays UK, I wondered if it was some sort of wind-up as it sounded just too good to be true!” she said.

“We were thrilled when we found out that we really were winners, and remembered a great holiday we’d had a couple of years ago at one of the group’s holiday parks in Devon.

“Winchelsea Sands was our first choice of location. I used to love visiting it as a youngster when one of my friend’s parents had a holiday caravan there, and we had some superb times.

“It’s still just as I remember it – very friendly and relaxed, and the children have already chummed up with others of their age, and really enjoy the sense of freedom it offers.

“There’s a lovely outdoor pool on the park, and we’re also very close to some stunning beaches such as Camber Sands as well as places to visit such as Rye.

“For a busy family such as ours, this is a perfect way to relax and is like a dream come true. Even Micky Flanagan couldn’t make me smile this much!” added Sam.

As an added bonus, the family’s holiday caravan has been supplied with eco-friendly decking by leading specialists Fitrite, holding out the promise of relaxing and dining outdoors this summer.
