TV viewers will shortly be joining former Blue Peter presenter Valerie Singleton on a nostalgic visit to Ladram Bay Holiday Park near Budleigh Salterton in Devon.

Both Valerie and the park are the stars of an upcoming edition of BBC1’s popular “Holiday of a Lifetime” documentary which will be screened nationally on 19 February.

Host of the show, Strictly Come Dancing judge Len Goodman, will be shown taking Valerie back to the scene of many happy family holidays in the 1940s.

She will also learn that the Carter family who first opened Ladram Bay in 1943 are still its present-day owners – and that the park is now one of Devon’s largest and most popular destinations.

Valerie, who was born in 1937, will recall her vivid memories of staying in a caravan on the park, and will be given the opportunity to step inside a model from that period.

Now, as then, Ladram Bay has its own private beach and spectacular panoramic views over the Jurassic Coast – but Valerie will also see the many improvements made since her last visit.

Today the park provides a host of family-friendly facilities, including a new swimming pool complex and entertainment centre.

Guests can hire a luxury caravan holiday home, leisure lodge or apartment, or chose to purchase a holiday home.

Campers and touring caravan owners are also still welcome on the multi-award winning park which last year benefitted from a £10 million investment to further upgrade its facilities.
