At Raylands Country Park in Sussex, conservation is at the heart of daily life.
In 2025, the park celebrated the survival of a barn owl chick – a rare and remarkable success in what has been one of the toughest years on record for the species. With fewer than ten chicks recorded across the entire county, the holiday park’s carefully managed habitats and nesting boxes are making a measurable impact.
Raylands’ dedication to rewilding and conservation has already delivered long-term success. Since the first nesting box was installed, 29 barn owls have been born at the park – an achievement that highlights how holiday parks can be powerful custodians of nature. Beyond offering great holidays, they are creating safe havens where wildlife can flourish and biodiversity can be protected for future generations.
This is part of the #ParksMakePlaces campaign, celebrating how holiday parks support people, places and the planet.
