Staff at Ladram Bay Holiday Park in Devon are celebrating after their park was voted by the public as one of Britain’s most amazing places to stay for families.

The Budleigh Salterton holiday park, itself family-owned, saw off thousands of competitors to gain a place in TripAdvisor’s prestigious “Travellers’ Choice Awards 2017”.

The review website bases its annual list of winners on the verdicts of millions of visitors

who rate their experiences at different places to stay.

In the “family accommodation” category of the awards, Ladram Bay Holiday Park was voted number seven in the top 25, thanks to the volume of positive feedback it received.

It trumped even some of the UK’s best known names in the holiday parks and hotel industry.

The vast majority who voted gave the park an “excellent” or “very good” rating, with many making enthusiastic comments about the quality of their stay and the friendliness of staff.

Ladram Bay, which has been a favourite of Devon holiday park since the 1940s, has been owned and run by the Carter family since it first began welcoming camping guests.

Today it provides a host of family-friendly attractions and entertainment, plus private beach access, from its breathtaking cliff-top position overlooking the bay.

Families can rent a luxury lodge, caravan holiday home or apartment, or can buy a holiday home to visit whenever they choose.

There are also glamping pods for hire, and the park still provides pitches for campers and the owners of touring caravans and motorhomes.

All guests have use of the park’s extensive facilities, including a recently opened indoor climbing wall as well as a swimming pool complex, and the adventure golf course.

There’s also a restaurant and take-away, a beach-side shack where watersports equipment can be hired, and first-class day and evening entertainment.

Ladram Bay director Zoe House said everyone was absolutely thrilled to have achieved a place of honour in TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice listings:

“Despite not being the sunniest of summers, we have so far enjoyed a fantastic year at the park and are welcoming guests from across the country and from overseas,” said Zoe.

“The vast majority are either repeat visitors or coming as a result of a personal recommendation, and we’re so grateful to all those who continue to leave such glowing reviews.

“We’re proud of our quality standards, but also indebted to our five-star team who create such a superb atmosphere here – and are often praised in review comments,” added Zoe.

Ladram Bay also has a five-star accolade from VisitEngland, and once again this year received a top gold award from botanist David Bellamy for its environment care.
