One of Devon’s best-loved holiday parks is now also thrilling guests as a Jurassic park, thanks to the opening of a new dinosaur attraction in its grounds.

Woodlands Family Theme Park near Dartmouth, the largest family fun park in the South West, welcomed its first guests to Dino Trek over the Whitsun weekend.

Complete with prehistoric monsters which give a mighty roar as they are approached, Dino Trek recreates the sights and sounds of a landscape more than 160 million years ago.

Among the stars of the show are a terrifying and ferocious T-Rex, the bird-like and meat-eating Velociraptor, and the formidable armoured dinosaur Stegosaurus.

Spiros Spozitos, marketing manager for Woodlands Family Theme Park, said that Dino Trek is already being hailed by many guests as a fantastically exciting attraction:

“All the team at Woodlands have worked very hard trying to make sure we provide a dinosaur experience like no other,” he said.

“Interest from guests has been sky high during the development stages, and nobody was disappointed when we finally opened the gates to Dino Land last month.

“We celebrated with a raft of special events throughout the week, including giving out free return tickets to children who dressed as dinosaurs, explorers or palaeontologists.

“We’ll also be laying on more surprises as the year goes by,  and we’ve even another new attraction waiting in the wings which is likely to prove just as exciting!” said Spiros.

Set in 90 acres of Devon countryside, the family-run park is a wildlife wonderland for families with its huge stock of animal species, including a falconry centre with more than 40 birds of prey.

A member of the Best of British parks group, Woodlands’ accolades include the Alan Rogers “Best Family Campsite in Europe” award, and the “AA Campsite of the Year” award.
