West Yorkshire Campsite Crowned Best in Britain for Camping Holidays

A family run holiday park in West Yorkshire has been voted the best in Britain for camping holidays. Holme Valley Caravan and Camping Park received the Campsite of the Year 2026 title from Out & About Live after thousands of readers voted for their favourite UK location for a camping break. The award was presented at a glittering ceremony in London recognising the country’s top camping destinations.
Holme Valley Caravan and Camping Park, located on the edge of the Peak District near Holmfirth, was praised by readers for its high quality facilities, peaceful setting and friendly atmosphere. Many voters also highlighted the park’s abundant wildlife within its 16 acre grounds, which occupy the historic site of a former mill.
A proud moment for a family run park
Naomi Humphreys, part of the family behind the business, said everyone involved felt both proud and humbled by the national recognition. Holme Valley Caravan and Camping Park was founded by Naomi’s parents, Phil and Hazel Peaker, forty years ago and environmental care has always been central to the park’s philosophy.
Animal and bird habitats have been created across the grounds and a small wildlife lake provides a home for herons, dippers and kingfishers. The park has also received the prestigious David Bellamy Conservation Award at gold level for many consecutive years in recognition of its environmental initiatives.
“We have always attracted guests with a love of the natural world, and who enjoy exploring the glorious countryside which surrounds us,” said Naomi.
“But what makes this award very special to us is that readers were asked to vote not just on the basis of the location and quality standards, but also the hospitality on offer. Delivering this is very much in the hands of our park team, and so they deserve a lion’s share of the credit for our winning this award.”

Camping, glamping and family friendly facilities
The park offers traditional camping pitches alongside modern facilities including heated amenity buildings with family bathrooms.
Guests can also choose from a range of glamping options including a luxury lakeside cabin and the park’s popular Gingerbread Cabin which features full furnishings, kitchen areas and timber decking for outdoor dining.
Additional facilities include a convenience store selling local produce, an adventure golf course and a new active play area for children.
Naomi said advance bookings for 2026 suggest it could become a record year for visitor numbers, with guests arriving from across the UK and mainland Europe.
She and her husband Ben were presented with the Campsite of the Year 2026 award at a ceremony held at London’s Savoy Hotel.
