South West Campsite of the Year 2022

Wareham Forest Tourist Park has been named as South West Campsite of the Year 2022 by the AA in its annual celebration of Britain’s top park destinations. The family-owned business, said the AA, was a clear winner thanks to its high quality standards, first-class hospitality, and tranquil location in delightful Dorset countryside.

Not far from Poole, Dorchester and the Purbeck coast, Wareham Forest Tourist Park was acquired 20 years ago by husband-and-wife team Tony and Sarah Birch.

Award winning holiday facilities

Since then, the South West campsite has invested much time and energy into creating five-star facilities and surroundings for campers and owners of touring caravans and motorhomes.

Today, the park draws guests from all over the UK and mainland Europe, and says that 70% of its customers comprise people making repeat visits.

As well as paths to explore around the Dorset park’s wooded grounds, there is a heated outdoor pool, children’s play area, park shop, and comfortable modern shower and toilet facilities.

Pet Friendly South West Holidays

Wareham Forest Tourist Park also has a reputation for its pet-friendly nature, and even provides a warm shower to pamper pooches following their countryside rambles.

The park is managed today by Tony and Sarah, assisted by their daughter Chrissy and her husband Ben – and everyone is delighted with the AA Best in South West award, says Tony:

“It’s an immensely proud achievement for us, not least because Wareham Forest was chosen from among the many superb parks which the South West has to offer.

Making Happy Holiday Memories in Dorset

“The AA South West Campsite of the Year Award 2022 is particularly special to us because the judging is based not just on our quality standards, but also the experience which guests enjoy during their stay.

“Providing happy holiday memories has always been our main priority, and our friendly and helpful team here deserve a big vote of thanks for helping us gain this honour.

“I hope that the award will also benefit other local tourism businesses by putting the spotlight on Dorset as a fantastic place for a great holiday in gorgeous surroundings,” added Tony.

South West holidays all year round

The park is open all year round, enabling touring guests to enjoy the countryside throughout the four seasons, and when nearby visitor attractions are less busy.

Wareham Forest is also a member of the Best of British group of independently-owned parks in Britain, all of which have all achieved recognition for their high quality standards.
