Lancashire Holiday Park Champions County as a Stress Free Escape

A Lancashire holiday park recognised in the recent tourism awards is calling for the county to be celebrated as one of Britain’s most relaxing destinations. Moss Wood Caravan Park near Lancaster was named among the county’s top five family run businesses in the Lancashire Tourism Awards.
Moss Wood was the only holiday park in Lancashire to reach the finals in the highly competitive family owned business category. Director Henry Wild says the recognition provides the perfect opportunity to promote Lancashire as a leading destination for couples and families looking to unwind.
Spotlight on Lancashire’s peaceful countryside
Henry believes the county is often overlooked by visitors heading to nearby hotspots such as the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. He says rural Lancashire offers some of Britain’s most serene, picturesque and unspoiled countryside which makes it ideal for relaxing breaks away from everyday pressures.
The exposure from the awards, he adds, will help shine a national spotlight on the Red Rose County.

A family business rooted in community values
The competition focused on businesses that demonstrate strong family values and a positive impact on their local communities. Moss Wood was shortlisted thanks to the Wild family’s long standing commitment to supporting local people and working closely with regional businesses.
Founded more than 50 years ago by surveyor Syd Wild, the park is now run by his son Henry and his wife Hannah.
To reach the final, the park underwent mystery shopping visits, inspections and interviews with independent judges before the winners were announced at Blackpool Winter Gardens.
Nature, wildlife and sustainable tourism
Henry says that community engagement and sustainability have always been central to the park’s philosophy. As a member of the Holiday and Residential Parks Association (HARPA), Moss Wood encourages guests and local residents to connect with nature and help protect wildlife. Visitors can explore a 1.5 kilometre nature discovery trail and two spring fed lakes which attract birdlife, dragonflies and a wide range of aquatic species.
The park is also home to around 80,000 honey bees living in timber hives supported by a 3000 square foot wildflower area planted to encourage pollinators. Plans are in place to harvest the honey and sell it in the park shop.
“This competition has handed us a fantastic chance to highlight not just our park, but also the county and its unique character as a whole,” said Henry.
“There’s such a wealth of ways here to switch off and take life easy, and that’s exactly the story we’ll be telling over the coming months!”
Moss Wood offers holiday homes for sale as well as pitches for touring caravans and motorhomes.
