Staff at a highly acclaimed Lake District camping and caravan park near the shores of Windermere are finishing summer on a high after scooping two prestigious tourism awards. Park Cliffe Windermere Camping and Caravan Park, operated by the Caravan and Motorhome Club, says the two accolades are the icing on the cake following a spectacularly successful summer season.
Park Cliffe Named Among UK’s Outstanding Sites
The first honour saw Park Cliffe named as one of the UK’s best-loved holiday destinations by major holiday bookings company Campsites.co.uk. The park was awarded a coveted place on its annually published Outstanding Sites list, ranking it among the top 150 campsites and holiday parks in the UK.
The award recognises locations which have earned consistently strong feedback from guests and highlights some of the country’s most highly regarded camping and holiday park destinations.
AA Gold Award for Lake District Camping and Caravan Park
Further recognition followed when Park Cliffe was awarded the AA Gold Award for 2026/27, one of the most prestigious accolades presented by the AA to its highest-rated parks. To qualify for the gold standard, Park Cliffe underwent a rigorous inspection process which scrutinised almost every aspect of its facilities and services.
The park achieved an overall excellence score in excess of 90% and, in the opinion of inspectors, can truly be described as a caravan and camping park right at the top of its game.
Park Team Praised for Guest Experience
Park Cliffe Manager Julie Ward said her team was proud and delighted to be recognised with two major accolades following a “fantastically busy” summer.
“These awards mean a lot to us because both are focussed not just on the quality of our facilities, but also the type of experience we provide to guests,” she said.
“They include the reviews of people who have stayed at Park Cliffe, and who comment on the welcoming atmosphere and friendly service which they receive.
“Creating those type of memories is very much in the hands of our park team, so they must take a big share of the credit for these achievements,” added Julie.
Camping and Glamping Near Windermere
Set within 25 acres of countryside framed by mountains and lakes, Park Cliffe provides touring caravan, motorhome and camping pitches as well as glamping pods. The park is surrounded by an abundance of wildlife, including squirrels, deer, foxes and a wide variety of bird species. Sustainability is also an important focus, with Park Cliffe generating its own green energy from a solar array.
The park’s commitment to the natural environment has previously been recognised by the late TV botanist David Bellamy, who presented Park Cliffe with his prestigious Gold Conservation Award.
Park Cliffe was taken over by the Caravan and Motorhome Club this year under a long-term lease agreement and is also a member of the Holiday and Residential Parks Association (HARPA).
