Holiday parks group Abbeyford Leisure has been named as one of the top places to work in the UK as part of The Sun newspaper’s Best of British initiative.

The company, with holiday parks in Wales and Scotland, ranked higher than many big brand names including Tesco and Premier Inn.

The award-winning leisure group is the only holiday park operator in the country to receive such recognition.

Abbeyford Leisure Chairman, David J Evans, said: “We’re delighted to be recognised as one of the best companies to work for in Britain.

“We have a hugely dedicated team of employees across our award-winning holiday parks in Scotland and Wales, and The Sun’s Best of British accolade is testament to how we, as a team, work together to make Abbeyford Leisure not only an enjoyable company to work for, but a company where your career can flourish.

“Our staff retention is second to none – we’re proud of that and proud of our team,” said Mr Evans.

The Sun Awards celebrate UK-owned companies which create jobs, build local communities, and keep the economy growing.

Staff vote for their own firms, ranking them on dozens of factors including career progression, community support and working environment.

Government Business Secretary Greg Clark, said: “It’s an honour to work with Britain’s small, medium and large businesses every day, and one of the UK’s greatest strengths is that we are a nation of entrepreneurs.

“Smaller firms are lynch-pins of local economies and big-name firms take on the world, employing millions and driving growth.

“It is great to see these businesses recognised by The Sun for doing right for the people.

“At a time of great change, we can be inspired by the fact more jobs have been created in Britain over the last decade than in the rest of Europe put together,” added Mr Clark.
