Scottish Holiday Park stars in BBC bay watch

BBC viewers will soon be taken behind the scenes at one of the most popular Scottish holiday park to discover the impact which 2021 had on its owners, staff and guests.

Pettycur Bay Holiday Park on the south coast of Fife is the subject of an eight-part TV series called “Life on the Bay” which airs from 09 January on BBC Scotland.

Cameras were given access to all areas of the park during the making of the documentary which captures the spirit of holiday life from the perspectives of everyone involved.

Capturing the spirit of Scottish Holiday Park life

Based in Kinghorn, Pettycur was founded by the Wallace family over 40 years ago, and today provides around 600 holiday homes plus a hotel complex and many guest attractions.

Filming for the series began in early summer 2021, capturing stories and experiences from holiday park regulars and members of the public who use the leisure facilities, enjoy a meal or attend events at the park.

Featuring interviews with the Wallace family and key members of staff, the series of 30-minute documentaries will shine a light on how the family has built the business through the decades.

Scotland popular holiday destination

It also reveals the behind-the-scenes work that has made it both a popular holiday destination for generations, as well as an important part of the local community.

Steven Wallace, one of the third generation of the Wallace family who is now involved in the day-to-day running of the business, said everyone was very excited to see the finished series:

“Lots of our customers got involved in the shoot, from those who’ve owned a holiday home here for years, to others who have just joined our community,” he said.

“We’ve always said that Pettycur Holiday Park belongs to its guests as much as it does to our family, and is a place which holds many special memories for a lot of people.

“We hope that the series will put across the pride we have in our family business, and the hard work which our team puts in to ensuring that everyone enjoys the best possible experience here.”
