Perthshire holiday park “simply the best” say judges

The family owners of Blairgowrie Holiday Park in Perthshire are celebrating after their business was named by judges as Scotland’s Best Caravan Site of the Year.

The Wood family’s honour was announced at the Scottish Hospitality Awards in Glasgow, and saw the long-established business beat off stiff competition from parks across Scotland.

With nominations from customers taken into account, the awards highlight hospitality enterprises which offer exceptional standards of facilities and services.

Wood Leisure started life just over 30 years ago when husband and wife Colin and Margaret Wood acquired picturesque Blairgowrie Holiday Park.

The couple invested much time, effort and resources to create what is now one of Scotland’s most highly regarded and multi-award winning holiday parks.

Building on their success, Colin and Margaret then went on to develop four other parks using the same business formula of combining high quality surroundings with excellent customer service.

Their other parks are Corriefodly Holiday Park in Perthshire, Deeside Holiday Park near AberdeenLomond Woods Holiday Park in Ballock, and Campsie Glen near Stirling.

The Wood family’s five parks together help inject millions of pounds each year into Scotland’s regional economies through the spending of visitors.

At Blairgowrie Holiday Park, guests have the choice of a wide range of accommodation options including luxury lodges with private hot tubs.

There are also pitches provided for visitors with their own touring caravans and motorhomes.

This year, Blairgowrie was once again awarded a top five-star accolade from VisitScotland, and for the past two years has won the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.

Stepping up to receive the park’s prize at the Scottish Hospitality Awards from popular Scottish radio presenter Gina McKie was Wood Leisure’s owner Margaret Wood.

“We are absolutely ecstatic to have won this award, and much of the credit must go to our hard-working staff team as well as other members of our family,” she said.

“Our category had some extremely tough competition which has made the win extra special, and we would like to give a big thank-you to all our loyal customers who nominated us,” added Margaret.
