Disbelief turns to delight as couple handed keys to their £60,000 holiday home prize in Park Holidays Competition. When Jacqueline and Graham Weatherstone from southern Scotland received the news that they had just won a new luxury holiday caravan, their reaction was one of disbelief.
But their doubts quickly turned to delight when Park Holidays UK assured them that this wasn’t a mistake – and they really were the lucky winners of its annual prize draw.
The couple were told that they could now choose from a selection of the group’s top-rated parks in Britain as the location for their new leisure home, and there wouldn’t be a penny to pay.
But for Jacqueline and Graham the decision was easy. It had to be Glendale Holiday Park in Cumbria, just a 40-minute drive away and with its magnificent coastal location.
They will now be able to enjoy regular stays at the park in a spacious three-bedroom 36-foot ABI Arizona, fully furnished and equipped with all the latest mod-cons and appliances.

Jacqueline works part-time at a small cottage hospital in the couple’s home town of Langholm in Dumfriesshire, and her husband Graham is now retired.
Overlooking the Solway Firth near the Cumbria town of Wigton, Glendale Holiday Park sits between historic Carlisle city and the majesty of the Lake District’s lofty fells.
Jacqueline and Graham have three grown-up sons and six grandchildren who live not far away – and the three boys and three girls will be treated to regular get-aways with the couple:
“It’s a perfect location for all ages, and we can relax because the park is so peaceful and they can safely run around, play games or simply go exploring the grounds,” said Jacqueline.

“Just as thrilling for them is the swimming pool at Glendale, and also the active play area which is very well equipped and allows them all to let off steam!
“It’s a very friendly and very well cared-for park with an easy-going atmosphere where everyone can relax as soon as they arrive,” she added.
Other facilities at the park include a smart new clubhouse and family bar which also provides a cafe and restaurant, and is the venue for live entertainment in summer.
The couple’s sons and other family members also make use of their holiday caravan, and Jacqueline and Graham will combine their frequent visits with a love of cruising holidays in the Med.
Pre-owned holiday homes at Glendale start from under £15,000 – but the couple’s highly-specified prize would be more likely to have a price-tag of around £60,000.
Its additional luxury features include exterior decking from top manufacturer DeKboard which was installed by local specialists A1 Decking, providing a perfect setting for al-fresco dining.

“This is a fantastic bonus for us which makes the whole set-up just perfect. We’re really looking forward to chilling there with a glass of wine and taking in the views,” said Jacqueline.
The ABI Arizona also features a super-efficient central heating system, double glazing and high levels of insulation so that Jacqueline and Graham will remain snug whenever they visit.
“I’ve only ever won the occasional raffle in the past, so this has come as a wonderful surprise – and now we’ll be looking forward to our regular escapes to Glendale,” said Jacqueline.
