May blossoms with awards for Devon’s Ladram Bay
The awards spotlight shone twice on Ladram Bay Holiday Park this May as the family-run business was celebrated for delivering first-class customer experiences.
On both occasions, the Budleigh Salterton holiday park received praise both for the quality of its facilities, and the standards of service and hospitality provided.
It was the first time that Ladram Bay had entered for the Exmouth Chamber Business Awards, and the family was delighted earlier in spring when it was placed among the finalists.
Then, later in May, came the competition’s glittering finals at Exmouth’s Ocean venue when judges announced their list of winners.
In the “tourism and leisure experience of the year” category, they declared, Ladram Bay Holiday Park was the richly deserving winner of the overall accolade.
Presenting the first-place award to the park was local MP Sir Hugo Swire who congratulated the business on its proud history of exceeding customer expectations.
The park first started welcoming holidaymakers to the area more than 70 years ago when the Carter family gave over part of its farmland to camping guests.
Members of the family today remain at the helm of the business, and have developed it over the years to become one of Devon’s most popular holiday parks.
Attracting tens of thousands of visitors each year, the park – which boasts its own private beach – provides a raft of family-friendly attractions and entertainment facilities.
But the Exmouth Chamber award was not the only time that Ladram Bay found itself on the receiving end of praise from competition judges.
The park also won a place among the five businesses named in the Express and Echo Business Awards as representing the cream of the region’s tourism and hospitality enterprises.
The category of the awards in which Ladram Bay featured was judged by celebrity chef Michael Caines MBE of Devon’s world-famous Lympstone Manor.
Park director Zoe House said the two honours had come at a fantastic time as the park prepared for what could be its busiest summer on record.
The staycation trend of recent years, said general manager Claire Williams, shows no signs of slowing down – and that quality experiences such as Ladram Bay provides are helping to drive it forward.
Earlier this year, the park added an indoor climbing wall to its long list of attractions which also include a swimming pool complex with interactive splash zone, and an adventure golf course.
As well as holiday homes to buy, Ladram Bay has a choice of rented accommodation, including new super-luxury holiday homes and glamping pods, plus touring pitches.
Ladram Bay has a top five-star accolade from VisitEngland, and once again this year received a top gold award from botanist David Bellamy for its environment care.
