Customers of a Scottish loch-side holiday park have made waves by voting it into two major categories of a major tourism awards scheme.

Now Lomond Woods Holiday Park could be in line for a brace of bouquets later this month at the finals of the Scottish Outdoor and Leisure Awards.

The verdicts of the award judges will be made known at a glittering gala awards ceremony on 29 October at Glasgow’s Marriott Hotel.

Now in its second year, the Scottish Outdoor and Leisure Awards highlight businesses making outstanding contributions to the country’s tourism industry.

In the first round of the contest this summer, the public were invited to vote for their favourite Scottish holiday experiences across 17 different categories.

More than 35,000 votes were cast – and when the counting was complete, Lomond Woods Holiday Park was told that it had won a place in two different lists of finalists.

The family-run business now appears in the categories of best family holiday park in Scotland, and the best glamping park in Scotland.

Based just a short stroll from the banks of Loch Lomond with stunning mountain and countryside views, the five-star park attracts visitors from across the UK and overseas.

Accommodation options include luxury lodges, some with private hot tubs, as well as glamping pods and pitches for touring guests.

It is one of five top-rated parks in northern and central Scotland owned by the Wood family who first started out in business 35 years ago.

Park manager Paula Smith said that everyone was delighted when news of the two nominations came through:

“This has been a very busy season for Lomond Woods Holiday Park, and our being put forward for these awards comes as the icing on the cake,” she said.

“We have invested heavily in the park this year, both improving customer facilities and adding to the range of accommodation that we offer.

“It’s fantastic to see our efforts and those of our hard-working staff rewarded in this way, and we owe a really big thank-you to all our loyal customers,” added Paula.
