Lake District holiday parks and the RSPB

Two top-rated Lake District holiday parks and the RSPB have teamed up this spring to share with visitors the secrets of Lakeland’s amazing wildlife. Hill of Oaks Caravan Park on Windermere, and Waterfoot Park on Ullswater, will both be hosting experts from the RSPB and organising a range of activities.

Perfect Birdwatching holiday locations

Designed to appeal both to youngsters and grown-ups, the events will lift the lid on the Lake District’s vast range of bird and animal species, not always easy to spot.

Visitors will learn about their natural habitats, where they are to be found, and the many exciting conservation projects in place to help ensure their survival.

Conservation projects

The parks taking part are two of those belonging to Lake District Estates which variously provide holiday homes to rent and to own, luxury glamping facilities, and touring pitches.

The family business also owns a number of top local attractions including Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, and the iconic Ullswater Steamers where RSPB events will also take place.

Jamie Hamilton, membership officer at RSPB said: “Families can expect to be wowed by the stunning and informative displays found on our stands this spring. It is the perfect combination of the Lake District holiday parks and the RSPB.

“We encourage everyone to come and talk to one of our friendly staff members about all of the important conservation work taking place over Cumbria.

Get hands on with nature whilst on holiday

“The RSPB is passionate and knowledgeable about giving nature a home, so please don’t hesitate to ask us any questions you might have!”

Rachel Bell, head of marketing and development at Lake District Estates said: “We are delighted to be working with the RSPB at our caravan parks and attractions.

“The RSPB does amazing work to protect our beautiful and extremely varied birdlife, wildlife and important natural habitats.

“This is a great chance for visitors of all ages to appreciate their surroundings, get hands-on with nature, and learn how they can get involved with exciting local initiatives.”

RSPB events will be taking place at Hill of Oaks Caravan Park on Windermere on April 04 and 11, and at Waterfoot Park on Ullswater on April 05.
