It’s on your marks, get set, and nearly time to go for Beverley Holidays’ Katy Lamsin who will be running for Cancer Research UK in the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon.

The director of the Paignton-based group of holiday parks will join 50,000 other runners on the starting line on 23 April following months of gruelling training for the long-distance race.

Cheering her on will be family, friends, Beverley team members, and park guests who have helped Katy raise £4,200 – and still climbing – for Cancer Research UK.

The charity total has been topped-up with other fun initiatives including a “dash for cash” challenge which saw Beverley team members sprint around the parks with a collection bucket.

The Beverley Holidays‘ team have also been digging deep into their own pockets, and placing bets on Katy’s finishing time in the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon Sweepstake.

Katy said she was very proud to have gained a place in the prestigious charity event, and is both excited and nervous about stepping up to the legendary starting line later this month:

“There’s been plenty of sweat and tears over the past six months of preparation, but the reason I am doing this has really helped spur me on, and will definitely get me over the finishing line,” she says.

“I would like to say a huge thank-you to everyone who has helped me on my journey to raise this fantastic sum of money for Cancer Research UK.

“It’s a cause which has touched so many families, including my own, and I know we all hope that one day a cure will finally be found for this disease,” added Katy.

Meanwhile, Katy is continuing her training schedule in readiness to join the thousands of other runners who will take to London’s streets for the 26.2 mile route this month.
