“I’ve been there!” Alan Carr tells Devon holiday parks boss

Devon’s Beverley Holidays took to the waves in July to champion the English Riviera coast on BBC Radio 2 as part of a “Summer Seaside Survey” with star hosts Alan Carr and Melanie Sykes.

And during the broadcast, it was revealed that Alan Carr had himself enjoyed a happy holiday at the award-winning holiday park!

Beverley’s second-generation owner Alan Jeavons was invited on the show to tell its 4.2 million listeners why the English Riviera in South Devon is the best place to holiday in Britain.

Alan Jeavons flew the flag for Torbay by answering a series of quick-fire questions from Alan and Mel covering everything from the tastiest local cuisine to the English Riviera’s top local attractions.

Then Alan Carr told the audience that he himself treasured personal memories of Beverley Holidays having stayed at the family-run park in a holiday caravan in the 1980s.

Alan Jeavons said: “We were thrilled to receive an invite from the radio producers inviting us to take part in the show, and to tell the nation why the English Riviera, with its abundance of beaches, exotic palm trees and top seaside attractions, truly is the best place to holiday in Britain.

“We are also very proud to have had Alan Carr among the many guests we have welcomed to Beverley Holidays over the years, and invited both him and Mel for a stay in one of our hot tub caravans when we celebrate our sixtieth anniversary next March,” he added.

Set in the heart of the English Riviera, Beverley Holidays comprises three holiday parks offering high-quality accommodation including hot tub holiday caravans and luxury lodges, plus camping and touring with sea views.

Next year sees Beverley Holidays celebrate six decades of welcoming guests to the English Riviera shores, with staff and guests alike set to mark the milestone in style next March.

Further details about the anniversary celebrations are to be announced soon, and those who missed Beverley’s radio debut can listen to the broadcast on www.beverley-holidays.co.uk – or head to Beverley’s Facebook page to discover what happened when Alan met Alan.
