Floating holiday home dream help by Prestige

Major UK lodge manufacturer Prestige reports a cascade of sales enquiries after its floating holiday home was featured in a recent television documentary. Screened on More4 this summer, the programme showed how a couple from South Africa came back to Britain and realised their dream of living on water.

Trish and Richard took their vision of an aquatic luxury lodge to Northamptonshire-based Prestige which is best known for its top-end holiday and residential park homes.

However, the 30-year-old company also boasts an expertise in designing and constructing homes for siting on rivers, canals and lakes.

Holiday homes for rivers, canals & lakes

So together with Trish and Richard, Prestige’s development team sat down to turn their fantasy home into an innovative and eye-catching reality.

Prestige CEO Mitchell Comer said it was an exciting project on which to work, and the team was able to draw on similar challenges it had recently undertaken:

“We are increasingly working with marinas and park operators which have access to water from their land to help expand their range of accommodation,” he said.

“There is a definite increase in the number of people wanting to live or spend their holidays on a floating home, but traditional waterside properties are in short supply.

Holiday homes with river appeal

“Siting the home actually in the lake, river or sea is the perfect solution and allows customers to realise their ambition of saying goodbye to landlocked suburbia.

“It’s not hard to see the appeal of waking up each morning to find yourself afloat in glorious natural surroundings with all your creature comforts!” added Mitchell.

The More4 camera crew followed Trish and Richard through the design process, and then zoomed in on Prestige’s manufacturing plant where the build took place.

Finally, viewers saw the home being gently lowered into the waters of the Great River Ouse at Priory Waterside & Marina in Bedfordshire.

And the couple’s verdict on their new floating home? “It’s absolutely fantastic, and exactly what we had planned and hoped for!” they told the programme.
