Diamond Loo of the Year Award for Poole Holiday Park

Two top awards have left the family owners of a Poole holiday park flushed with success as they prepare to start welcoming guests for the 2024 season. South Lytchett Manor holiday park took Diamond Loo of the Year Award, celebrating its outstanding washrooms.

And then another chain of honour was awaiting the park at the annual tourism awards ceremony of the Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole Destination Management Board.

Loo’s with Diamond standards

The park beat hundreds of other eligible regional businesses to be named as the overall winner in the best self-catering accommodation category of the competition.

South Lytchett Manor’s owners, Joanne and David Bridgen, said that the two awards have provided a “fantastic life-off” to what is already shaping up as a record-breaking year.

The couple took over the park 18 years ago, and have invested much time and energy into creating a first-class environment for glamping, camping, touring caravans and motorhomes.

Their reward has been a top five-star grading from Visit England, a rare 98% quality rating from the AA, and other awards for the park’s high standards and care for the natural world.

Joanne, who with David runs the park with help of their grown-up son Matt and daughter Megan, said that 2024 will be proving an especially exciting time for the family:

“We have just invested in eight luxury Mongolian yurts which provide amazing views of the night sky, and will be decorated and furnished with a sumptuous Moroccan theme.

“They will join our Romany caravans and shepherd’s huts to help provide guests with a memorable experience in this lovely area of Dorset countryside.

“We are absolutely delighted with our Diamond Loo of Year award as we take a special pride in maintaining our facilities in pristine condition for customers.

“The regional destination management award is also a very proud achievement, not least because it is based on both the quality of what we offer, and the hospitality provided to guests.

We always go the extra mile for our visitors

“Creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere has always been a priority for us, and credit here must also go our hardworking team who always go the extra mile for visitors,” said Joanne.

She added that bookings for the coming year are extremely strong, and the family was pleased that so many other local businesses also benefitted from guests’ spending in the area.

South Lytchett Manor is a member of the Best of British group which comprises some 50 independently-run parks with top quality ratings based throughout the UK.
