Staff at Paignton Holiday Park put the icing on the cake for Macmillan Cancer Support during its World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event this autumn.
Receptionists, entertainers and other members of the Beverley Holiday Park‘s charity support team all took part in a kitchen contest for the coveted title of Beverley’s Star Baker.
The cook-off resulted in both a deluge of delicious cakes – and a £395 windfall to support the help given by Macmillan to people living with cancer.
The money was raised through sales of the oven-fresh fancies at the park’s well-attended coffee morning, including holiday guests and local residents.
Beverley’s marketing director Claire Jeavons said the occasion was a brilliant success, thanks not least to the willingness of staff to get stuck in with their stirring spoons:
“Everyone took on the challenge with great spirit, and their cakes proved a real hit with our judges and event-goers alike – and without a soggy bottom in sight!” she said.
“This has been a tremendous year for us at Beverley, so the event was as much a celebration as a chance to support a very worthwhile cause.
“We’d like to give a very sincere thank-you to everyone who came along to cheer our staff on, and to dig so deeply into their pockets to create this excellent donation for Macmillan.
“Our fundraising events throughout the year support both national and local good causes, and they wouldn’t be possible without the time and effort put in by our team,” added Claire.
