Devon holiday park makes pitch for peace-lovers

Nichols Nymett park, where the pleasures all come naturally, is seeking peace-loving holiday home buyers

One of Devon’s most beautifully located holiday parks is wooing holiday home buyers with a list of  all the attractions which they won’t be able to enjoy.

But rather than putting people off, Nichols Nymett Holiday Park owner Angela Stupiak believes her unusual pitch will be well received by the right type of customers.

They are being told that the park doesn’t have a disco for late-night revelries, or the chance to win a fortune on bingo, or sing-alongs in the clubhouse, or a children’s talent contest.

In fact the only live entertainment on her park near Okehampton, Angela cheerfully admits, is a constant chorus of birdsong – plus delightful views of the peaceful Devon countryside.

In other words, she says, it’s the perfect bolt-hole for those seeking escapes to total tranquillity.

Angela and her husband Michael took on the park almost 25 years ago after being “smitten” by its picture-postcard location near Dartmoor in the village of North Tawton.

Only rarely do holiday caravans become available for sale, but this summer Nichols Nymett is unusually able to offer three new luxury models at £28,500, £35,500, and £38,500.

Angela, though, is keen to ensure that buyers will feel comfortable in the friendly community created at the park by its mainly more mature holiday home owners:

“Nichols Nymett has a very special appeal to those who value a peaceful atmosphere, a lovely pastoral setting, and high quality surroundings above anything else,” she said.

“We simply offer an away-from-it-all experience which seems to chime especially with couples who prefer their pleasures to come naturally.

“There are plenty of superb holiday parks in Devon which offer rafts of attractions, so we thought it would be fairer make a feature what we don’t provide!” added Angela.

But although there is an absence of any noisy distractions, she  points out that there is little chance of holiday home owners ever wondering how to spend their time.

There are plenty of delightful walks starting from the park, and two attractive fishing lakes just a stroll away as well as Dartmoor National Park within a few minutes’ drive.

The city of Exeter can be reached in just half-an-hour, and both the north and south coasts of Devon are easily accessible for days out exploring the world-famous coastlines.
