A popular Shropshire touring holiday park was flushed with pride after learning of its success in a national awards scheme to encourage the highest standards in “away from home” washrooms.

Ludlow Touring Park, located near the beautiful Marches market town of Ludlow, collected three accolades in the latest Loo of the Year Awards.

The picturesque park, owned by Shrewsbury-based Morris Leisure, won the Loo of the Year Award for Holiday Parks in England and received a platinum grading.

High level of customer commitment

The park’s cleaning staff also won a Washroom Cleaner of the Year Award for “providing a high level of commitment to a vital public service”.

Park managers Paul and Tracy Barrett said they were “absolutely over the moon” when they were informed about the two awards and platinum grading.

“We are so proud to have won the Loo of the Year Award for Holiday Parks in England, particularly in these difficult times,” said Paul.

“Keeping the facilities in pristine condition for our customers has been a labour of love, and we have rewarded for our hard work. The awards have lifted everybody.”

A team of five – including Paul and Tracy – is responsible to keeping the loos and washing facilities in the best condition possible, which has been top priority during the current pandemic.

Best washrooms in the UK

Since their introduction in 1987, the Loo of the Year Awards competition has recognised and rewarded the very best washrooms throughout the UK and Ireland.

Any type of non-residential “away from home” washroom can be entered in the awards, and all entries receive a grading following an unannounced visit by an awards inspector.

The Washroom Cleaner of the Year Awards relate specifically to the cleaning staff that look after washroom facilities.

Ludlow Touring Park, which has 114 touring pitches, nestles alongside the River Teme on a 20-acre site near Richards Castle.

Touring guests at the park enjoy picture-perfect surroundings amid tranquil countryside with glorious views

Opened in 2012, generates around £2 million a year for Ludlow and the surrounding area by attracting thousands of caravan and motorhome owners.

Morris Leisure has also developed Ludlow Holiday Home Park next to the touring park, with 20 pitches for holiday homes and luxury lodges.
