Beverley and Claire share spotlight at Devon Tourism Awards

Devon’s Beverley Holidays has concluded its 65th anniversary year by being crowned with two major honours in the finals of the Devon Tourism Awards.

Judges first declared that the park had secured a place among the three holiday parks chosen to receive awards for representing the very best in the county.

The judges then announced that this year’s winner of the competition’s award for Outstanding Services to Tourism was Claire Flower, Director of Beverley Holidays.

Promoting world-class holidays in Devon

The award is given annually to the person considered to have made the biggest single contribution to promoting Devon as a world-class holiday destination.

Claire had achieved that status, the judges decided, through her inspirational work and tireless efforts on behalf of both regional and national tourism organisations.

These include her board membership of the English Riviera Bid Company which strives to improve the trading environment of tourism and hospitality businesses in the Torbay area.

Claire was also recently elected as Vice Chair of the British Holiday and Home Parks Association which gives a voice to around 3,000 UK park enterprises at Government level.

Award Winning Devon Tourism Holiday Park

A member of the Jeavons family which founded Beverley Holidays 65 years ago, Claire has played a key role with her sister Nicola in creating the five-star park’s success story.

A winner of multiple awards for its high quality standards and achievements in protecting the natural world, the park continues to invest substantially in maintaining first-class facilities.

This year saw the opening of a new £800,000 holiday home development, and new facilities for touring guests, bringing the total invested in recent years to almost £2.5 million.

Next year, says Claire, the bar will be raised even higher with additional super-luxury Scand-inspired lodges with spectacular sea views and private hot-tubs.

Double Devon Tourism Awards

She says that everyone is delighted with the two Devon Tourism awards, presented in November at Torquay’s Riviera International Centre and attended by tourism chiefs from across the county:

“This is a wonderful finale to our 65-year celebrations, and the award for the park is a fantastic tribute to our team who ensure that guests enjoy a truly memorable experience,” she said.

“I feel very humbled by my personal award from Devon Tourism, and I see it as a tribute to be shared among the many people who give up their time to serve our hospitality sector.

“Tourism is vital to Devon’s regional economy, and the spending of visitors supports many smaller businesses across the county and helps sustain the employment they provide.

Serving Devon Tourism Sector

“I’m delighted to be able to do my bit, and to be in the company of so many dedicated and hard working volunteers!” said Claire.

Set in the heart of the English Riviera, Beverley Holidays comprises a group of holiday parks offering holiday caravans, luxury lodges, touring pitches, and a wealth of guest facilities.
