65 Years for one of the Best Holiday Parks in Devon

More than six decades after the first families booked a seaside caravan stay at Beverley Holidays, one of the best holiday parks in Devon is getting set to mark its 65th anniversary this year. And celebrating the milestone will be members of the same Paignton family, the Jeavons, who originally opened up part of their farmland to visitors in 1958.

A series of events is planned throughout spring and summer, including themed party nights, special get-togethers for children and grown-ups, plus live entertainment.

New Development at Best Holiday Parks in Devon

The year will also see the opening at Easter of a new £800,000 holiday homes for sale development, and new facilities for camping, touring caravan and motorhome guests.

The investment is on top of almost £2.5 million spent in recent years on a fleet of holiday lodges and caravans with private hot-tubs, and a nautical themed play park.

Beverley Holidays’ director Claire Flower, a member of the Jeavons family, said that continuous investment in the park had been an important factor from the outset:

“We are incredibly proud to be marking such a major milestone in 2023, and our family has always been keen to constantly raise the quality bar on what we provide.

“Ever-improving facilities and accommodation mean that guests and can always look forward to enjoying the highest standards to enhance their holiday experience.

5 Star Holiday Park

“That applies whether our customers are renting a holiday home, touring, camping, or buying a holiday caravan or lodge to use throughout the four seasons,” said Claire.

Located in Paignton on the English Riviera coast, Beverley Holidays has won a raft of national and regional excellence awards over the years, plus accolades for its environmental work.

The park was founded in 1958 by Staffordshire builder Joseph Stanley Jeavons (“Stan”) and his wife Marion, both keen caravanners who had long dreamed of running their own holiday business.

They found the ideal location for turning their vision into a reality on plot of 20 acres of farmland, just outside the town of Paignton with spectacular views of the bay.

Beverley Sisters Inspired Name

Stan christened the park Beverley after the Beverley Sisters, a pop trio who enjoyed a long-running career with frequent TV appearances throughout the 50’s and 60’s.

One of the sisters, Joy, had married Wolverhampton Wonderers FC captain Billy Wright that year, and as a keen fan of the club, this was Stan’s homage to his beloved team.
