A fast-expanding leisure group with holiday parks in Wales and Scotland has been named as one of the most inspiring businesses in Britain.

Abbeyford Leisure is among the top performing firms included in the recently drafted “London Stock Exchange 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain” for 2016.

Based in Conwy in North Wales, Abbeyford Leisure was founded 50 years ago, and today owns six multi-award winning holiday parks on or near the coast.

drafted annually, the prestigious Stock Exchange report – now in its third year – celebrates the fastest-growing and most dynamic small and medium-sized enterprises in the UK.

To be included on the list, companies must demonstrate that they have grown their revenue over the past four years, and significantly outperformed their specific sector average.

Abbeyford Leisure has achieved this with an enterprising management team and continued investment in the accommodation and facilities provided to guests across all of its parks.

Chairman David J Evans, who has held his position since 2011, paid tribute to the dedication and hard work of the company’s senior management team:

“We are delighted to be named as an inspiring company to Britain by the London Stock Exchange, and to feature alongside so many household names,” he said.

“Our business has experienced many changes over the years, and we are proud to have maintained a strong team of employees with a shared passion for providing exceptional holiday experiences.

“We are proud to be recognised for our growth and commitment to excellence, and we thank all our customers for their continued support in making our business a success.

“Our aim is always to exceed our guests’ expectations, and in doing so our hard-working team has continued to drive our expansion forward in these exciting times,”  added David.

Abbeyford Leisure and the other British companies named by the London Stock Exchange on its list were congratulated by Chancellor George Osborne.

He said that UK high-growth businesses are “leading the charge in rebuilding our economy” and are creating high quality, well-paid jobs through innovation and expansion.
