Getting back to nature

Of course, no trip to Gloucestershire would be complete without exploring the Cotswolds. Rising from the upper Thames, the stunning scenery varies from rolling hills to meadows, Jurassic limestone bedrock to rural grassland. Designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it’s peppered with unmissable sites such as the Broadway Tower, chocolate box village Arlington Row and the secluded wooded valley of Woodchester Park.

The ancient Forest of Dean certainly has magic in the air. Before becoming the first National Forest Park, it was a royal hunting forest in medieval times, and used as timber for Tudor warships. Now it’s a thriving habitat with a fine balance between open space and shady woodland. See it by bike or by foot on the many winding trails stopping at beauty spots like Mallards Pike, Symonds Yar Rock and Cannop Ponds.
