Shamba Holidays near Ringwood in the New Forest is officially one of the best place to “go” in Britain, according to judges of the annual Loo of the Year awards.
That’s because the park’s washrooms have been named as top diamond winners in the latest Loo of the Year awards, bringing a chain of honour to the family-run business.
The prestigious accolade was made to Shamba Holidays after the shower and toilet facilities provided for guests were “mystery shopped” by inspectors.
Celebrating the news of the award are business owner Andrew Gray and park managers Graham and Tracey Daffern who help maintain the fab facilities.
But the diamond designation wasn’t the only honour with which Shamba Holidays came away from this year’s Loo of the Year Awards.
It also won first place in the holiday parks category for the best toilets/showers on any park in the United Kingdom, beating more than 3,000 other contenders to the title.
News of the accolades, said Andrew, came as a “fantastic and very welcome” surprise:
“Touring visitors at Shamba often make mention of our facilities in the reviews they leave online, praising their spotless condition and well-designed layout,” he said.
“Many of our guests are family groups, enjoying Shamba as a base for exploring the surrounding countryside and nearby beaches, so high standards are important to them.
“Maintaining the facilities in tip-top condition is down to our hard working and loyal staff team, so they deserve a big share of the credit for these awards,” added Andrew.
Open all year round, the seven acre park has been in Andrew’s family for over 20 years. It was started by his uncle Tim, and then taken on by his parents Martin and Anne.
Over that time, the has family has invested much time and energy into creating a first-class setting for touring guests, including a 40-foot swimming pool with a retractable roof.
There’s also a modern clubhouse with professional entertainment in season, and year-round activities for all ages – plus a bar, cafe-restaurant, shop, and relaxation areas.
Shamba’s new Loo of the Year awards, however, are not just a flash in the pan – for the park also boasts a raft of other national and regional quality accolades.
They include a top five-pennant accolade from the AA, and the David Bellamy Conservation Award at its maximum gold level for Shamba’s many initiatives to protect the natural world.
Shamba is also a member of the Best of British group, a consortium of independent holiday parks providing some of the highest quality standards and levels of hospitality in the UK.
