Fresh from the spotlight of November’s Devon Tourism Awards, Ladram Bay Holiday Park in Budleigh Salterton has begun the countdown to a landmark year.

In just one month’s time, the family-owned business will see the start of its 75th anniversary – and a whole raft of celebrations are being planned.

From a small cliff-top camping site with its own private beach access, Ladram Bay has grown to become one of Devon’s largest and best-loved holiday parks.

It has gathered a wealth of top national and regional awards for the quality of its facilities, the standards of hospitality, and its care for the natural environment.

And there was a new honour recently for the business when it was declared by judges of the 2017 Devon Tourism Awards to be among the top three parks in the county.

In order to reach the final stages of the competition, Ladram Bay had to match up to a number of tough criteria including in-depth scrutiny by the judges and a “mystery shopper” visit.

The park, a former farm, has been owned by the Carter family for many decades, and in 1943 it began welcoming camping guests for the first time.

The outstanding views and the welcome provided by the owners soon cemented its popularity, and the family began to invest in new facilities and accommodation options.

Today, guests have use of the park’s many attractions, including a new indoor climbing wall as well as a swimming pool complex, and the adventure golf course.

There’s also a restaurant and take-away, a beach-side shack where watersports equipment can be hired, and first-class day and evening entertainment.

Ladram Bay provides a wide range of holiday homes to rent or own, brand new glamping pods, and pitches for touring caravans, motorhomes and tents.

Ladram Bay director Zoe House, who is a member of the Carter family, said that everyone was looking forward to celebrating 75 years of creating happy holiday memories.

“We have invested many millions of pounds over the years in our business, and Ladram Bay’s family-friendly facilities have won us a large and loyal following,” said Zoe.

“But what we most enjoy hearing is how much guests say they enjoy the friendly atmosphere here, and the helpfulness of our staff team members.

“It’s certainly going to be a milestone year for us in 2018, and we plan to ensure that holiday guests are able to join in as many of the exciting events as possible,” she added.
