Three centuries of loyal service were celebrated at West Dorset Leisure Holidays recently when eleven employees were presented with special achievement awards.

Five highly acclaimed Dorset holiday parks

The long-serving team members work across the group’s five highly acclaimed Dorset holiday parks, and received their accolades from directors Martin Cox and his wife Vanessa.

Together, the staff have contributed over 300 years of service in areas ranging from catering and hospitality to leisure services, customer support and wildlife conservation.

They were each presented with Exceptional Service Award certificates from the British Holiday & Home Parks Association, the park industry’s professional body.

The accolades are the highest honours given out by the association to individuals shown to have made “significant and substantial” contributions to park businesses.

The ceremony took place at Highlands End Holiday Park in Bridport, the flagship of the Dorset parks group which first set out in business almost 50 years ago.

Martin Cox, who has helped spearhead its growth for the past 35 years, said he was immensely proud of the loyalty demonstrated by so many members of the team:

“Whether they are working behind the scenes or helping to provide our services direct to customers, our staff are an integral part of the experience we offer,” he said.

“Their dedication, hard work and willingness to go far beyond the extra mile creates a very positive atmosphere at all of our parks, and is often commented upon by guests.

“Virtually all of the many tourism awards our parks have won place a strong emphasis on the hospitality, friendliness and quality of service which are provided.

“Delivering this is in the hands of our team members, so the lion’s share of the credit for putting our parks in the spotlight must go to them.

“I’m delighted to have been able to make these awards from our association, and look forward to taking on even more locally-based staff in the future,” added Martin.

He said that West Dorset Leisure Holidays has long provided formal training opportunities for all personnel to enable them to improve their skills and progress to more senior roles.

Martin is a former national chairman of the British Holiday & Home Parks Association, and currently serves as one of its vice presidents.

He is also the immediate past president of the European Federation of Campingsite Organisations & Holiday Park Associations (EFCO&HPA) which represents 20,000 holiday park businesses across Europe
